The leaders of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) said they will pass the budgetary-fiscal policy in first reading on December 15 and before the December 16 presidential elections will sign an annex to the AEI agreement, whereby they will pledge they will not form coalitions with the Communist Party, Info-Prim Neo reports. ”We decided to adopt the budgetary-fiscal policy in the form approved by the Government in first reading. The proposed amendments will be included in the second reading. We agreed that all the member parties of the alliance should sign that guarantee document,” the chairman of the PLDM Vlad Filat said after the meeting of the AEI Council on Tuesday evening. He stated that he is optimistic about the outcome of the presidential elections. “The Liberal-Democrats signed in favor of the alliance’s candidate and will vote for him on December 16.” The Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu said the PL will make everything possible to strengthen the alliance. “We agreed that there will be worked out a clear mechanism for implementing the budgetary-fiscal policy. We will vote for the alliance’s candidate and have the necessary votes to elect him. Everything depends on the alliance, and if we must we will give guarantees,” he stated. The Democratic Party head and the AEI’s candidate for the presidency Marian Lupu said the AEI Council discussed the signing of a guarantee document, but have not yet agreed all the details. “We are ready to sign a balanced document. Today we did not discuss details, only general principles,” he stressed. He also said that the day of December 16 is a decisive one. As to his proposal that every MP should present the ballot when going out of the polling booth, Marian Lupu said the Democratic lawmakers will show how they voted, while the other parties will decide themselves. Marian Lupu is the only presidential candidate registered officially. The ruling alliance has 58 votes plus the vote of unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea. It needs two more votes to vote the President in. Both the Communist MPs and the group of Socialists said they will not vote for the alliance’s candidate. The elections will be validated only if at least 61 lawmakers take part in the voting. Otherwise, new elections may be called.
