AEI nominates Dorin Dragutanu for c-bank governor's office
The Alliance for European Integration (AEI) has nominated Dorin Dragutanu, senior manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers, as candidate for the post of governor of the Moldovan National Bank. The candidacy is to be considered by Parliament on Friday, November 6, Info-Prim Noe reports.
Marian Lupu, the leader of the Democratic faction, said Wednesday after the meeting of the Parliament's Standing Bureau he hadn't met Dragutanu personally, but read his resume.
“If the information contained in this resume is correct, then he must be a worthy and professional person”, said Lupu, adding that the nomination was made by the Liberal faction.
Mihai Ghimpu, the Parliament's Speaker and also the president of the Liberal Party, described Dorin Dragutanu as a “young, tall man, a good specialist, with European experience who has worked at the National Bank as an expert of an European organization”. “He has the knowledge and experience required to lead the National Bank. We need to inject some fresh blood into Moldova's workforce”, added Ghimpu.
Earlier the AEI nominated Corneliu Ghimpu, a nephew of Speaker Ghimpu, to the same post. The blood connection with the Speaker aroused dissatisfaction among the MPs, forcing Mihai Ghimpu to withdraw the candidacy. The post remained vacant with the resignation of Leonid Tamaci, who had governed the central bank for 18 years.
