The leaders of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) did not accept the invitation to discussions on the opportunity of electing the head of state with the help of the votes of three Communist MPs that was issued by the leader of the Democratic Action Party Mihai Godea. The meeting was to take place on October 3 starting at 11.00. After waiting for 10 minutes, Mihai Godea told the press that by refusing to take part in the talks, the leaders of the AEI showed they do not care if the head of state is elected or not, Info-Prim Neo reports. “By formulating such a proposal, I showed the political class that solutions for overcoming the political crisis exist. In such conditions, no member party of the AEI will be able to say that an alliance with the Communist Party is needed for overcoming the crisis. By refusing to take part in the negotiations, the parties of the AEI gave themselves a grade. We offered the AEI a clear solution for electing the head of state and avoiding early elections without giving posts to the Communists. The answer is evident,” said Mihai Godea. According to the MP, it is obvious that the AEI and the PCRM avoid authentic and objective talks. “Instead of taking this opportunity, they pretend to be conducting negotiations with the Communist Party and prepare the weapons for the next early elections,” he said. Mihai Godea also said that the dialogue remains open, “but the train will not wait for too long.” He stated that the three Communists who are ready to vote in the head of state do not want posts and money and do not impose conditions. They simply want reforms to be implemented. The head of the Democratic Action Party invited the leaders of the AEI to talks last week. He said there are three Communist MPs who do not agree with the policy pursued by the leaders of the PCRM and are ready to negotiate with the AEI. The parties of the Alliance for European Integration and unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea hold together 59 seats in Parliament and need two more votes to elect the President of Moldova. The leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu is paying a visit to Brussels, while the chairman of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu is in Strasbourg.
