AEI leaders dissatisfied that Vladimir Voronin did not announce his resignation in Parliament
The members of the Alliance for European Integration expressed their dissatisfaction with the fact that Vladimir Voronin did not announced his decision to resign as head of state in the Parliament. Though the legislation allows announcing the resignation in written form, a part of the MPs say that it was a moral obligation to make the announcement in the Parliament, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Vlad Filat, the leader of the parliamentary group of the PLDM, said that the Constitutional Court it to pronounce its decision on the resignation of the head of state and then the new government will be formed.
Speaker Mihai Ghimpu, the leader of the PL, said he regrets that both Voronin and Greceanyi preferred to inform about their resignation in written form. According to him, this way the two officials showed their disrespect for the people’s will.
“Voronin ran away like the guard from a guarded facility, i.e. from the state,” said Serafim Urecheanu, the first deputy speaker and leader of the AMN.
“I consider that Vladimir Voronin’s decision to resign is a right step taken in accordance with the law,” said the leader of the PDM group Marian Lupu.
Vladimir Voronin announced his decision to quit as head of state on Friday, September 11. The MPs will examine the decision at the Parliament’s sitting. Under the Constitution, the Speaker will act as head of state until a new president is elected.
