AEI distributes ministries
The Liberal Party (PL) will be in charge of four ministries in the future Government – the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Youth and Sport, and the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure. Moldova's Acting President and leader of the PL Mihai Ghimpu confirmed this information on Tuesday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The nominal composition of the new Government and the way in which the ministries will be distributed between the four parties that formed the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) - the PLDM, PL, PDM and AMN – will be made known at the Parliament's sitting of September 25, when the new Government is to be invested. Vlad Filat was designated as Prime Minister by presidential decree.
Mihai Ghimpu did not want to say who will hold the posts of ministers on behalf of the PL, but assured that they will be competent persons.
“The Ministry of Defense will be headed by a young specialist, who did internship in the U.S. army. He promoted reforms in our army, but was forced to retire early by the Communists,” Ghimpu said.
Speaking about the Ministry of Youth and Sport, Mihai Ghimpu said that 'the young man' who will lead this institution “will be the minister of all the young people, not only of the Liberal youth.” “We have cared a lot about our elderly people. This is good, but the young persons are also citizens of Moldova.”
As the Premier elect and leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat said, the Liberal-Democrats will have responsibility for five ministries of the future Government. These are: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Health.
The PDM president Marian Lupu and the AMN leader Serfaim Urecheanu have not yet declared what ministries they will be in charge of.
Though the present administration said that the new Government should be formed as quickly as possible because there are many problems that must be deal with immediately, it will be invested only on September 25.
The Head of Parliament Mihai Ghimpu said that Thursday's sitting of the legislature will not take place as the assembly hall will host the fourth CIS Forum of People of Science, Culture and Arts.
