AEI could call extraordinary meeting over presidential decree
Deputy Speaker Serafim Urecheanu, the leader of the Moldova Noastra Alliance party, has told Info-Prim Neo the governing Alliance for European Integration (AEI) could assemble for an extraordinary meeting to discuss the decree issued today by caretaker President Mihai Ghimpu, who declared June 28 to be the Day of the Soviet Occupation and Commemoration of the Victims of Communism.
“Mihai Ghimpu is not a president elected by the people, but delegated by the AEI, by four political parties, so all the decisions adopted by Ghimpu ought to be coordinated with the AEI”, stated Serafim Urecheanu.
The deputy speaker refrained from making comments on the decree, saying he hasn't seen it yet. “But I've heard of its existence. I don't exclude that we could call an extraordinary meeting of the Alliance to discuss the situation. Once we have examined it, we will have a common decision of the AEI and announce our further actions”, said Urecheanu.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat also refrained from comments for the same reason, but promised to produce his remarks later, both in his capacity as premier and as Lib-Dem leader.
Democrat leader Marian Lupu could not be found for comments, being on a business trip abroad.
