The ruling alliance formed by the PDM, PL and the PLDM is a center-left –center-right coalition and can be named an alliance of wide national interest as the PDM is a center-left party, while the PL and PLDM are center-right parties. Such an opinion was published by political analyst Roman Mihaes on his blog, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Roman Mihaes, the phrase ‘center-right alliance’ is used by the Communists to diminish the representation of the newly constituted parliamentary coalition. The analyst believes that if the PDM had formed an alliance with the PCRM, Moldova would have had a center-left alliance as both or the parties are based on left, Social-Democratic and Socialist-Communist doctrines. Such an alliance, according to Roman Mihaes, would not have represented the center-right voters and would have been less representative and even noxious as it wouldn’t have promoted the national European integration interest. The reconstitution of the Alliance for European Integration was announced on December 30, following a month of discussions and negotiations between the parties that entered Parliament after the November 28 elections. The same day, the Communist lawmakers boycotted the election of the Speaker, saying the PDM was a light-minded party that would soon disappear from the political arena.
