Ads with spelling mistakes will be taken down
The grammatically flawed outdoor ads in Chisinau will be taken down by order of Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, who also requested a more careful monitoring of the advertising in the city, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The mayor was particularly irritated by a billboard which rendered the Romanian word “oxigen” with as many as three mistakes in it. “Why is that we have such billboards and who authorized them? We do have a subdivision responsible for verifying the spelling of advertising content, don't we?”, asked Dorin Chirtoaca at the City Hall's ordinary meeting on Monday.
He suggested that the district officials should hire some high school students to check the billboards across the city, “if they can't cope with it by themselves”.
Centru district head Vladimir Sarban suggested for his part that the municipality should employ a specialist for the job. This proposal could be put up for consideration at a future City Hall meeting.
Earlier the Chisinau authorities decided to suspend the posting of new billboards and to inventory the existing ones. Mayor Chirtoaca stated then that the city was full of advertisement, yet it didn't yield the expected revenues.
