“The Chicu Government or the Prime Minister will resign during the next two-three weeks so as to provoke a crisis and blame the newly elected President and her team,” said the leader of the Pro Moldova Party Andrian Candu, who noted that amid instability and the pandemic crisis, the Socialists and Igor Dodon will say that they and the Chicu Government are no longer responsible for the state of affairs, IPN reports.
“I refer to those who still control the political situation and can influence decisions, Dodon’s Socialists and Mister Dodon himself. After losing the presidency, they kept a degree of control and power in Parliament and their latest statements show that they want to do so as to shift the whole responsibility onto the newly elected President Maia Sandu, saying that she is fully and absolutely responsible for the country’s fate as of December 24,” Andrian Candu stated in the program “Emphasis on Today” on TVR Moldova channel.
Adrian Candu said that if Ion Chicu tenders his resignation, the solution if snap elections are induced is to form a technocratic, minority government that the Party of Socialists said they would support.
“If it’s decided that the snap elections will take place in September, for example, a technocratic, less politically affiliated, transition and anti-crisis government with an unaffiliated Premier nominated by Missis President Sandu should be formed to work after the resignation of the Chicu Government until the snap elections. This government should assume the management of the crisis in the period,” stated Adrian Candu.
He noted that the PSRM and Igor Dodon could switch to the opposition in order to increase the party’s popular approval rating based on criticism leveled at the future government.
“They say it is easier to improve the rating while criticizing as part of the opposition as the defeat suffered by Igor Dodon can affect the party’s rating. They need reformation and this reformation can be easier ensured from the opposition, by criticizing based on the current situation that they themselves created,” concluded the politician.
