Speaker of Parliament Adrian Candu voted for the European future of the Republic of Moldova. He said he wants the authorities to accept the people’s will regardless of the made choice, IPN reports.
After casting his ballot, Adrian Candu said he voted for the reforms scheduled by Parliament and the Government to be implemented. “I want the future President to be a guarantor of the Constitution and, in his work, to be part to all the reforms planned by the Government and Parliament,” he stated.
According to the Speaker, even if the Constitution does not enable him to adjust the pensions and salaries, the President of the Republic of Moldova has yet the power to supervise the activity of the Government and Parliament and can intervene when necessary, especially when abuses are committed, and to demand, by the people’s pressure, that the pensions and salaries be adjusted.
Adrian Candu said he is sure that the future President will form part of the team that aims to continue the initiated reforms so that Moldova comes closer to the EU development model.
