Pro Moldova president Andrian Candu and the party’s secretary general Vladimir Cebotari tendered their resignations in the meeting of the National Political Council. Boris Foca was named acting president, while Radu Crețu will serve as secretary general, IPN reports.
In a press release, Pro Moldova says Boris Foca has been a member of the party since its founding. He is 39 years, is a university lecturer and heads the Moldova-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He has rich experience as manager in business and in the NGO sector.
In the same meeting, the Council approved a new composition of the Standing Bureau and decided to institute the post of executive secretary general, appointing Igor Melnic to this post.
In accordance with the party’s statutes, the party’s administration will be elected at the next Congress of Pro Moldova Party. The National Political Council will act as the administrative body between the two congresses.
The political party Pro Moldova was founded by a group of Democratic MPs led by Andrian Candu in June 2020.
After the snap parliamentary reelections of this July, a number of leaders quit as party presidents. Among these are the leader of the Party “Dignity and Truth” Platform Andrei Năstase, the president of the Democratic Party Pavel Filip, the leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon and the president of the Liberal Party Dorin Chirtoacă.
