Administration of Tiraspol must be excluded from the negotiation process on Transnistrian settlement – President
The regulations and the list of participants to the negotiation on Transnistrian dispute settling must be changed, by eliminating from this process the separatist leaders and identifying new possibilities of including in this process legally elected members of administration, President Vladimir Voronin declared on Tuesday, July 11, at a press conference.
According to the head of state, during this year, Moldova managed to solve some problems at the Transnistrian border segment due to the help of European Union and Ukraine. “Despite the propagandistic fuss about the blockade, practically all the important Transnistrian exporting enterprises registered in Chisinau. Even when the conflict will be definitely solved politically, Chisinau will accept to maintain a budgetary autonomy for Transnistria”, Voronin declared.
At the same time, he mentioned that there is no secret that the problems appeared in the last semester in Moldova were generated exclusively by the standpoint of Chisinau, as well as by the fact that Russia changes and renews its foreign affairs policy.
Regarding the intentions of the Transnistrian authorities to initiate a referendum in the region, Voronin declared that Tiraspol wants in this way to distract everybody’s attention from the serious problems of the region, specifying that the situation in Transnistria has nothing in common with the one in Kosovo and it can not be settled following the same mechanisms.
Referring to the political evolutions in Ukraine and the eventual consequences over the Transnistrian conflict, the head of state declared that in the last time “very good and stable contacts” were established with Kiev, especially concerning the Transnistrian issue. At the same time he expressed his hope that Ukraine will remain a reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova.
Voronin denied some declarations according to which Chisinau is involved in the explosion incident happened last week in Tiraspol. “The attempts to blame Chisinau were predictable, because the leadership of Moldova is always blamed for everything that happens or doesn’t happen on the left part of Nistru”, the head of the state declared. “As president and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, I would have never ordered this kind of actions”, Vladimir Voronin underlined.
