Ștefan Gligor was elected as president of the Party of Change, while Corina Gaibu, Sergiu Dărănuță, Ion Potlog, Sergiu Postica and Sergiu Tofilat as vice presidents in the party constitution congress held on March 7. Also, Vladimir Ciobanu was chosen as secretary general, IPN reports.
In the congress, the initiative group for constituting the Party of Change presented a report in front of the delegates. According to this, since the group was launched on January 28, more than 2,000 membership applications have been collected and three local organizations have been created in the districts of Anenii Noi, Cantemir and Leova.
The constitution of local organizations in the municipalities of Bălți and Chisinau was put off due to the worsening of the pandemic crisis. “In these municipalities, there are many members who want to take part in the establishment of local organizations, but the given constitution meetings cannot be yet held owing to the restrictions imposed by the authorities. Despite this situation, we will continue to set up local organizations in districts by obeying the decisions taken by the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission. During the next few weeks, we plan to found at least ten new organizations. Moreover, when the limitations imposed by the authorities are lifted, local organizations will be constituted in Chisinau and Bălți, says a press release of the party.
The congress decided that after most of the local organizations of the Party of Change are created, an extraordinary congress will be called to confirm the elected administration and to adopt strategic decisions concerning the party’s development and the further political activity.
The documents for registering the party will be submitted to the Public Services Agency during the next several days.
