Administration of Chisinau hospital “Saint Trinity” punished disciplinarily

The head of the Chisinau Health Division Mihai Moldovanu announced that the administration of the municipal hospital “Saint Trinity” was penalized disciplinarily as a result of an internal inquiry into the case of two men who were discharged from the hospital last week and taken to a waste dump in Criuleni district, IPN reports.

Mihai Moldovanu said that he discussed with the hospital’s director Simion Terente and with vice director on surgical problems Gheorghe Strajescu. As a result, Simion Terente was reprimanded for defective management of the institution and lack of control over the provision of medical assistance, while Gheorghe Strajescu received a severe reprimand. “The internal inquiry revealed that the hospital’s administration bore the blame. A new deviation will lead to dismissal,” said Moldovanu.

This week, the two patients will be admitted to the Municipal Hospital No. 4 for palliative care for a period of 30 days. Afterward, they will be taken to a specialized center. If this is not possible, owing to the difficult procedures, the two men will be admitted to the Chisinau Shelter for the Homeless.

Mihai Moldovanu added that one of the patients stayed in the hospital for a year and a half, while the other one for six months. He said the legislative deficiencies allow keeping homeless persons in hospitals, not in social protection institutions. Up to 200 such persons receive treatment in medical institutions annually.

For 7-10 days of treatment in the hospital, the National Health Insurance Company allocates about 3,500 lei.
