Moldovan judoka Adil Osmanov achieved two victories at the World Judo Championships in Abu Dhabi in the 73 kg weight category. He defeated Mexico’s Gilberto Cardoso and Kazakhstan’s Daniyar Shamshayev, but in the third round was beaten by Russia’s Makhamadbek Makhmadbekov, IPN reports.
Denis Vieru (66 kg) and Petru Pelivan (73 kg) lost to Daikii Bouba of France and Erdenebayar Batzaya of Mongolia. Another Moldovan judoka, Radu Izvoreanu (66 kg), beat Ramazan Kodzhakov of Bahrain, but lost to the future finalist, Japan’s Takeshi Takeoka.
Mihai Latyshev and Victor Sterpu (both 81 kg) enter the competition in Abu Dhabi today, May 21.
