The Association for Participatory Democracy (ADEPT), which is a constituent member of the Civic Coalition for Free and Fairs Elections, on October 11 launched a website centering on the October 30 presidential elections – www.alegeri.md – and the updated version of the platform intended for the political parties of Moldova www.partide.md. By these platforms, ADEPT aims to contribute to the correct and unbiased informing of the people about the work of parties, the programs of electoral competitors and the election process in general.
ADEPT project coordinator Elena Prohnitski, in a news conference at IPN, said www.alegeri.md contains comprehensive information about the October 30 presidential elections and the previous elections. This includes traditional divisions with the lists of election runners, their political statements, results of opinion polls concerning voters’ preferences, monitoring reports, etc.
The website also provides the profile of each election runner with bibliographical data, information about the professional activity, launch of campaign and income statement. A novelty is the fact that alegeri.md was interconnected with the portal avere.md, where the user can find out more information about the property and interests of electoral competitors who held or hold public posts, irregularities identified when declaring incomes, etc. The profiles will be supplemented with financial reports and other electoral materials of competitors.
The other platform – www.partide.md - represents, according to ADEPT, the most complex source of information about the work of political parties in Moldova. The website provides detailed information about the development of parties, their work, political programs, members, administration, participation in elections, financial reports, etc. The website contains information about all the registered parties, including the parliamentary, extraparliamentary and inactive ones, and a division that measures the people’s confidence in parties based on a public opinion barometer.
ADEPT executive director Igor Botan said the two platforms provide accurate and balanced information about the election process. These will help the people to vote consciously in the presidential elections and will contribute to holding free and fair elections in Moldova by informing the people about the election process and the profile of candidates running in elections.
The website www.alegeri.md was designed within the project “Increasing voters’ awareness level by informing them about the presidential elections of 2016”, which is financed by the U. S. Department of State. The updating of the platform www.partide.md was financially supported by East-Europe Foundation Moldova within the project “Informing of people about work of political parties before the presidential elections of 2016”.
