The allocations for renovations at six general primary and secondary educational institutions managed by local public authorities, under the “Moldova Education Reform” Project, are up for an increase by another 10 million lei. A Government decision draft in this sense is under public debates, IPN reports.
The draft memo claims that the funds are necessary for covering additional costs incurred in the renovation process, which haven’t been initially budgeted within the projects and, consequently within the affiliated contractor agreements. These works are necessary for certain technological processes for facade finishes, water and heat supply for the institutions.
In March, the Cabinet has approved a decision to renovate six institutions of primary, gymnasium, and lyceum education, which are subordinated to local public authorities. The institutions undergoing renovation are lyceums “Lucian Blaga” in Iargara, Leova, “Vasile Pîrvan” in Gotești, Cantemir, “Silvian Lucaci” – Costești, Râșcani, “Mihai Eminescu” in Sipoteni, Călărași, “Meșterul Manole” in Sălcuța, Căușeni, and the “Alexandru cel Bun” gymnasium in Vărzărești, Nisporeni district.
Initially, 57 million lei were allotted for repairs at these schools, under the “Moldova Education Reform” Project, which is supported by the World Bank.
