Morbidity through acute upper respiratory tract infections continues to be high despite the 12.9% decrease in such cases last week, compared with a week before. Data of the National Public Health Agency show that over 44% of the 14,424 cases were recorded in the municipality of Chisinau, IPN reports.

A number of 203 cases of seasonal flu were logged during December 26 - January 2. Out of these, 163 were reported in Chisinau, while the rest in Comrat, Balti, Călărași, Soroca, Nisporeni etc. Over 63% of the persons with flu were hospitalized.

Since the monitoring period started last October, 722 cases of flu have been registered. The number of acute upper respiratory tract infections exceeded 123,000, while of severe acute respiratory infections rose to 5,400.

The Agency said that immunization against seasonal flu in national public health facilities goes on. It is recommended getting a flu vaccine and a Covid-19 vaccine simultaneously.

Public health specialists recommend the population to continue maintaining physical distance and wearing masks in public transport, to observe the personal hygiene rules and disinfect the homes. A doctor should be seen immediately after the first symptoms of flu and acute respiratory infections appear.
