The political bloc ACUM has invited the Party of Socialists to continue talks this evening or tomorrow morning, in light of the recent decisions taken by the bloc’s component parties to conditionally accept a Socialist nominee for Speaker, ACUM posted to Facebook.
Also on Facebook, PSRM chief ideologist Ion Ceban said that the conditions advanced by ACUM’s two parties seemed to differ and the Socialists were expecting a unified position. “Depending on ACUM’s response, we will come back with clear details about where and when”, said Ceban.
PAS decided yesterday evening to support a Socialist nominee for Parliament Speaker if it’s allowed in turn to establish an ACUM government and pass “anti-oligarchic” legislation through Parliament. Today DA party advanced similar conditions, with the difference that it expressly demanded an “honest” candidate, a suggestion that the party disapproves of the Socialists’ current pick.
The Socialists decided to convene their National Council tomorrow to decide on the next steps.
