The leaders of the Party of Socialists and the Political Bloc ACUM in the discussions held on June 4 presented their positions on the state of affairs in the Republic of Moldova after the parliamentary elections of February 24. They agreed to hold separate meetings within the parliamentary groups and to meet again in the afternoon to discuss the conclusions, IPN reports.
After the discussions that started at 9am, the leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Maia Sandu said the Bloc ACUM stated its opinion on how the process of freeing the state institutions from captivity can be started, how Parliament can become functional and how to adopt the de-oligarchization package of laws. The representatives of the PSRM presented their position. The discussions will be followed by consultations inside the parliamentary groups. “We agreed to have a discussion in the afternoon. If we reach a consensus, we will have a situation. If we do not, the situation will be different. We will come and say exactly what we agreed on,” stated Maia Sandu.
The politician noted they now hold discussions only and it is too early to speak about the formation of a parliamentary majority. ACUM suggests initiating the process of de-oligarchizing the state by adopting laws in Parliament and the formation of a government assumed by the Bloc can be the second step.
“Dignity and Truth Platform” Party president Andrei Năstase said he informed the representatives of the PSRM about the imminent risks of losing the agreement with the IMF, which can lead to the impossibility of unfreezing the European financing. He called on them to join in the fight against mafia, oligarchy, corruption, poverty and the exodus of Moldova’s population. “The de-oligarchization package is the starting point. We must be sure that this package will be adopted, promulgated and surely implemented,” he stated.
When making statements for the press separately, the Socialist leader Zinaida Grecheanyi said both the position of the leaders of the PSRM and that of the leaders of the Bloc ACUM are very rigid. “We saw openness, but we will yet see what happens in the afternoon when we will meet after consulting the groups,” she noted.
The meeting was held in the Parliament Building behind closed doors. The PSRM at the discussions was represented by the Socialist leader Zinaida Grecheanyi and MPs Ion Ceban and Vlad Batrîncea, while the Bloc ACUM by the Bloc’s co-presidents Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase and MPs Igor Grosu, Alexandr Slusari and Sergiu Litvinenko.
