Actor Vlad Ciobanu passed away

Theater and film actor Vlad Ciobanu died on November 22. “A notable personality of the national culture, who came from a family with rich traditions in culture and arts, artist and teacher Vlad Ciobanu devoted his career to promoting performing arts and the beautiful world of theater,” says an obituary signed by senior state officials, IPN reports.

“We offer sincere condolences to the family, relatives, friends, colleagues in the fields of theater and film and all those who knew and praised the Man and Master Vlad Ciobanu,” runs the obituary signed by incumbent President Igor Dodon, Prime Minister Ion Chicu, Parliament Speaker Zinaida Grechanyi and Minister of Culture and Research Lilia Pogolșa.

President-elect Maia Sandu also transmitted a message of condolence in connection with the actor’s death. “Let’s remember the actor who always wanted to enrich the world of theater and to produce new projects, like the one in which he so greatly played the part of Eminescu, the teacher who always tendered to help the young people develop. God rest his soul,” said the leader of the Party of Action and Solidarity.

Vlad Ciobanu was born on July 31, 1967. He became known after starring in the film “Luceafărul”, produced by Emil Loteanu in 1987. The actor was the director general of the National Center of Education through Art.
