The famous Moldovan actor Mihai Volontir has passed away. The master died in the intensive care section of the National Clinical Hospital last night. The information was confirmed for IPN by the Hospital’s spokeswoman Daniela Turtureanu.

Mihai Volontir suffered from chronic diseases that became more acute during the last few months. Almost two months ago, he was transferred to the National Clinical Hospital from the Balti Municipal Hospital, where he stayed for several days.

Mihai Volontir turned 81 on March 9. He held the title of People’s Artist and the Order of the Republic, which is the highest state award. In 2000, the master was named the best actor of the 20th century in the Moldovan cinematography.
