The National Extraordinary Public Health Committee on February 9 approved the creation of the National Committee for Coordinating COVID-19 Immunization Activities that will ensure and coordinate the vaccination process in the country in accordance with the national COVID-19 immunization plan. The Commission also approved the composition of the National Committee that will be chaired by acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the communication and informing of the people will be the task of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Perfection, while the National Public Health Agency will ensure the planning, organization, evaluation and monitoring of the COVID-19 immunization process and will periodically update relevant national data about the epidemiological situation, including cases confirmed by labs, hospital admissions and deaths associated with COVID-19.

Also, the National Public Health Agency will cooperate with the Ministry of Home Affairs, especially the General Police Inspectorate, the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, the General Border Police Inspectorate and also the Civil Aviation Authority and the Customs Service, so as to ensure the safety of the consignments of vaccines at all the stages – receipt, transportation, storage.

The receipt of donations from partners will be the responsibility of by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, while the Reintegration Bureau will facilitate the interaction over issues related to the Transnistrian region, with the participation of experts from both banks of the Nistru River.

The Medicines and Medical Devices Agency, together with the National Public Health Agency, will ensure the supervision of adverse events following immunization. The National Health Insurance Company will finance the costs associated with the purchase of vaccines and consumables, within the available funds.
