Activist Andrei Donica, who heads the Association “Young Generation”, demands that the head of the National Integrity Commission Anatolie Donciu, former Mayor of Chisinau Serafim Urecheanu and current Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca be arrested because they caused damage of millions of lei to the municipal budget.

“Anatolie Donciu does not deserve to head the National Integrity Commission because he is not the most upright person in Moldova. He is involved in fraudulent schemes to illegally appropriate land,” Andrei Donica said in a news conference at IPN.

According to the activist, in 1998, when Serafim Urecheanu was mayor of Chisinau, a decision was taken by which several plots were leased out to a firm for a period of 1,000 years. The land was afterward portioned out and Anatolie Donciu, in 2004, obtained six ares of that land by dubious ways. Andrei Donica said that he carried out investigations and found out that besides the six ares, Donciu also appropriated a plot that is 622 square meters in area.

Andrei Donica stated that neither Serafim Urecheanu, nor Dorin Chirtoaca informed the competent bodies about this theft. This shows that the two are involved in this scheme and protect Anatolie Donciu.

The leader of the Association “Young Generation” also said that the fraudulent schemes involving public functionaries show that no institution is functional, that everyone protects their own interests and that money is stolen from the budget of Chisinau municipality. He demanded that Anatolie Donciu should be dismissed and held criminally accountable.
