Action plan for strengthening border security approved

The Cabinet agreed the action plan for implementing the National Strategy for Integrated State Boarder Management for 2021-2023. The document aims to strengthen border security and to facilitate the crossing of the border, contributing to achieving the strategic objective of joining the European Union, IPN reports.

The priorities for the immediate period include the prevention and combating of crossborder crime, optimization of state actions in the field of migration and development of inter-institutional cooperation for ensuring border security.

Among the planned measures are the outfitting of the border police with modern equipment, improvement of the working conditions and of the social package for the personnel, modernization of the infrastructure of state border crossing points and automation of checks on border.

The plan will be implemented at an estimated cost of about 270 million lei that will be allocated from the budgets of the involved authorities and from foreign funds.
