Acting prosecutor general notifies SCP of hacking of his accounts

Acting prosecutor general Ion Munteanu informed the Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP) that his email and Telegram account had been hacked and a part of the conversations were published on a website, IPN reports.

In the meeting, SCP president Angela Motuzoc noted that information from Ion Munteanu’s email and Telegram account was made public on November 25. The content of the published chats give the impression that through third persons, Munteanu owns property that he actually didn’t declare and manages particular businesses from behind. It is this way suggested that he is responsible for deeds that contain elements of offenses stipulated in the Penal Code, such as unjust enrichment and filing of false tax returns. Therefore, Ion Munteanu asked the SCP to assign a prosecutor to examine the presented circumstances.

As a result of deliberations, the Council entrusted Vitalie Chișca, prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases, with the task of examining the allegedly illegal acts of the acting prosecutor general.
