At the Faculty of Law, Mihai Ghimpu was conferred the title of Doctor Honoris Causa. “This title is a symbol of our recognition for the special merits of Mihai Ghimpu in upholding the rights and the state of law,” said the Faculty's dean Flavius Baias. ”The University of Bucharest will be always open to the Bessarabian students,” he added, specifying that six young people from Moldova are scholars of honor ”Eugen Ionescu”. Mihai Ghimpu told the students about the latest changes promoted by the Alliance for European Integration, saying the removal of the barbed wire fence placed along the border with Romania is a very important accomplishment. The Caretaker President said Moldova needs qualified specialists and urged the students to gain as much knowledge and experience as possible as they study at one of the best institutions in the world. He informed them about the possibilities offered by the agreement signed by the Ministry of Education, Research, Sport and Youth of Romania and the Eduction Ministry of Moldova. Under the agreement, the number of scholarships provided by Romania to Moldova was raised to 5,000. Mihai Ghimpu was in Bucharest on April 27. On April 28, he will be visiting Suceava and Iasi.
