Vera Paladiciuc, secretary of Morenii Noi local Council, Ungheni district, will act as Mayor of the locality until the following local elections, which may take place on November 11. The decision was taken today, August 16, during the extraordinary meeting of the Council. Central Electoral Commission (CEC) secretary Andrei Volentir told Info-Prim Neo that the decision concluding the position vacancy should reach the CEC not later than 61 days before the date of the new elections. Previously, the CEC had decided that new local elections may take place two times per year: on the second Sunday of months Mai and November. This year, autumn local elections will take place on November 11. Morenii Noi Mayor Ion Mardari died in the terrible road accident that happened on August 9, along with his wife. The death toll rises to 12 people.
