Accusations of sabotage within Joint Control Commission
The Moldovan delegation to the Joint Control Commission (JCC) informed that the ordinary meeting scheduled for February 7 in Bender was sabotaged by the Transnistrian side. It insisted on including the proposal to increase the Transnistrian military presence in Bender in the agenda and did not accept the Moldovan side’s proposals, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué from the Moldovan delegation, the draft agenda included eight subjects that were transferred from the previous meeting and the Joint Control Command’s report on the situation in the Security Zone during January 30 – February 5, 2013. During the discussions, the Transnistrian delegation demanded including the issue concerning the extension of the Transnistrian military component in the increased security regime region Bender.
In this connection, the Moldovan delegation proposed transforming the unilateral peacekeeping post No. 10 of Russia, which is located on the bridge that connects Bender and Tiraspol, into a trilateral post of the joint peacekeeping forces. The Transnistrian delegation insisted yet on including its proposal in the agenda.
Also, the Transnistrian delegation informed in an ultimatum-like manner about its intention to introduce unilaterally an additional military unit in the increased security regime region Bender, without coordinating the move with the Joint Control Command and the Joint Control Commission. The Moldovan delegation considers that the given actions can create a dangerous precedent and can artificially tense the situation, which can lead to the blocking of the work of the JCC.
