The financial resources accumulated by the state-run company “MoldATSA” at the NGO “Eurocontrol” have been unblocked based on a decision by a Belgian court, IPN reports.

The sequestration was annulled and “Eurocontrol”, which coordinates air traffic in 41 states, is to shortly release all the money. The court also obliged the company “Kemestroy”, which is the successor of the firm “Energoalians”, to pay €5,000 damages to Moldova.

At the start of this July, the amounts blocked in Belgium totaled €5.9 million. The money was sequestrated on April 16 this year after the International Court of Arbitration of Paris, on October 25, 2013, obliged Moldova to pay US$47 million to “Energoalians”. The money represented debts and penalties accumulated by the state-run company “Moldtranselectro” for the electricity supplied by the Ukrainian firm 16 years ago. To recover the money, the Ukrainian company filed lawsuits in different states. The accounts of “MoldATSA” were ultimately blocked.
