Accounts of Causeni mayor’s office blocked
The accounts of the Causeni mayor’s office have been blocked. The courts obliged the local authorities to purchase seven apartments for certain categories of people. Mayor of Causeni Grigore Repeshchuk has told Info-Prim Neo that they do not have money to pay salaries to the employees of the six local kindergartens and to buy food for the children.
“In 2012, we paid €40,000 for the apartment of a female judge and gave €20,000 to another woman. Our accounts with 300,000 lei in them were blocked at the beginning of this year. The money was for the children’s food. Now it will go to purchase apartments. The court ordered paying another €30,000 for an apartment,” said the mayor.
Grigore Repeshchuk said that he does not understand why the mayor’s office must buy apartments for judges, police officers and prosecutors. “Nothing has been built in the town for 25 years. We have houses of €10,000-12,000, but the courts ruled that we provide money, not houses. The problems started last May, when they began to issue court orders. 1.8 million lei has been taken from the budget of the mayor’s office since then,” said the mayor.
According to him, the persons who won in court the right to apartments want all the money immediately, not in tranches. “If the central authorities pledged to provide the judges, police officers and prosecutors with dwellings, they should do it, not shift the responsibility onto the mayor’s office. Now they want seven apartments. We will pay for three of them now and there are four apartments left,” said Grigore Repeshchuk.
In a video conference of Prime Minister Vlad Filat and district heads two weeks ago, the administration of Causeni district informed the Premier about this problem. Vlad Filat said it’s not right to block the accounts and accept no compromises. He promised he will find a solution so that the kindergartens continue work and the accounts of the mayor’s office are unblocked. Meanwhile, the mayor’s office took out a loan which was used to pay salaries and the gas bills of schools.
The six kindergartens in Causeni are attended by 1,200 children. They employ about 350 persons.
