Access to Tantareni dump blocked again
Inhabitants from Tantareni village have again blocked the road to the garbage dump near the locality, where the waste from Chisinau is carried to. The protesters are disappointed that the Chisinau authorities have not adopted the 2009 budget and their claims remain unsolved.
“The people see what happens in the City Hall: quarrels, office swaps, and have no guarantees their problems will be solved,” Tantareni mayor Ion Mastac told Info-Prim Neo.
Tudor Maniv, the head of the waste carrying company said at the City Hall's staff siting Monday that measures need to be taken, jointly with the police.
Interim mayor Vlad Cotet has said “there are problems, but the locals block the road not being permitted to do so”.
Mihai Moldovanu, the head of the health direction says a team of Chisinau doctors consult the Tantareni villagers. “Some of them have already been sent to the hospital.”
As to the water pipe the Chisinau City promised to build in Tantareni, Vasile Panfil, the head of the capital construction division, has said the project is made and will be sent to be approved by the Chisinau Council.
The Tantareni villagers are unhappy that the garbage from Chisinau is carried near their locality. They say the water in their wells is not good to drink and they have health problems. They ask to halt the transportation of the waste and want an aqueduct. They protested in January and got the City Hall's promises to imply in solving their issues.
The garbage dump is to be exploited till the end of 2010.
