Following the recent hydrological drought, the level of water in the Nistru River decreased to 8.4 meters at 3pm on August 1 .SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” (CC) warns that this is a critical level that endangers the supply of water to Chisinau, IPN reports.
In a press release, ACC says that when the level of water decreases to 8.4 m, the pumps at the water pumping station on the Nistru stop work. The consequences can be catastrophic and not only the residents of Chisinau municipality, but also the inhabitants of other settlements supplied with water from the Nistru will remain without water.
The company says that it repeatedly informed the local public administration, the Presidential Office, the Government and other competent institutions about the given problem. Optimal solutions are being looked for to intervene at lower costs so as to ensure the smooth supply of water to Chisinau municipality.
ACC reminds that the level of water during a year had stayed at an average level of 9 meters. For the pumping station to work normally, the level of water in the Nistru must be of minimum 9.1m.
