Starting with this week, joint teams consisting of inspectors of the water suppler and housing sector managers will examine a part of the 24,000 apartments where zero consumption of water is declared, IPN reports, quoting a press release of SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” (ACC).
The administration of ACC said it will no longer allow the disciplined consumers to suffer because of the bad payers due to whom they have to monthly pay more money for the difference between the volume of water measured by common meters and the consumption declared by customers based on the readings of individual water meters, which is divided among the dwellers.
As a result of checks in apartments where zero water consumption is declared, the bad payers will be made to pay the undeclared volumes so that the difference paid by honest consumers will decrease considerably or will even disappear.
The water supplier said it tested a number of methods for reducing this difference, including the use of software at private business entities that enables to photograph common meters and the data transmitted to the system are processed autonomously.
The water supplier’s administration will allot 2% of the sums paid for water and sewerage to the housing sector managers. These could receive the money after presenting quarterly reports about the volume of consumed water and after identifying the consumer who do not pay for the consumed water.
In Chisinau, there are 160,000 apartments. The dwellers of about 24,000 of these declare zero consumption of water each month. As a result of recent checks, the company’s specialists identified undeclared consumption of about 420 cubic meters of water in one apartment.
