ACC: Specialized equipment will help reduce blockage in sewerage system

SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” (ACC) will soon start to use new specialized units of transport and equipment for cleaning the sewerage system. This became possible as a result of a tender contest held within the Priority Investment Program that is financed by the EBRD and EIB, IPN reports.

In a press release, the public utility says the household waste in large quainter and the building materials permanently block the sewer pipes, the pumping equipment and treatment lines. Most of the times, this happens because the elementary rules of using the sewerage system are not respected. At the same time, end-users report an increasing number of leakages of water, which turn out to be caused by blockages in the sewerage networks.

The old age of the current equipment of ACC makes its output to be low compared with the modern equipment. The use of the new equipment will enable to modernize the company’s machinery and to reduce the intervention costs.

In 2015, the teams of the Central Dispatcher’s Service dealt with 4,072 cases of blockages, which is an annual rise of about 5%.
