The Academy of Sciences of Moldova intends to sign a cooperation agreement with the authorities of Gagauzia so as to support the region’s relevant bodies in science and education. The intention was made public by the Academy’s president Gheorghe Duca during a working visit to Comrat on September 17, IPN reports, quoting the press service of the executive committee of Gagauzia.

Gheorghe Duca met with the Governor of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal and the director of the autonomous unit’s Scientific Research Center Petru Pasali. The interlocutors discussed the cooperation prospects in science.

Mihail Formuzal said that the National Archive of Gagauzia was recently created under the Scientific Research Center. At the current stage, they are actively collecting materials. In the near future, the administration of Gagauzia will make a request to include the director of the Scientific Research Center in the Supreme Council for Science and Technological Development of the Academy of Sciences.

For his part, Gheorghe Duca underlined the importance of the Scientific Research Center for the autonomous region, which, according to him, helps science work for the benefit of practical activities.
