Academy awards scientists of the year
The Moldovan Academy of Sciences has honored the best scientists of the year in a Gala of Awards on Wednesday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Scientist of the Year Award went to Academician Andrei Ursu, in particular for his work titled “Soils of Moldova”, and Andrei Hvorostuhin, research intern at the Applied Physics institute, was named the Young Scientist of the Year, for his research of viscosity in pure gluonic matter.
The Grigore Vieru Award went to Accademician Mihail Dolgan for his critical work on Vieru's poetry as well as his articles and studies in literary history and criticism.
Valeriu Pasat, senior researcher at the History, State and Law Institute, received the Academy's Special Award for “remarkable achievements in 2011”. Special Awards were also given to Ion Ciocanu, senior researcher at the Philology Institute; Anatoli Sidorenko, director of the Electronic Engineering and Nanotehnology Institute; and Valeriu Dulgheru, head of the machinery department at the Technical University of Moldova.
The Academy's Award for Biology, Chemistry and Environment went to Dr. Fliur Macaev, head of the Chemistry Institute's organic synthesis laboratory.
The Academy's Award for Medical Studies went to Dr. Constantin Etco, head of the Management department at the Medical University.
The Academy's Award for Agricultural Studies went to Dr. Boris Boincean, head of the Natural Sciences department at the Balti State University.
The Award for Physics went to Dr. Sofia Clochisner, laboratory head at the Academy's Applied Physics Institute.
The Award for Mathematic and Economic Sciences went to Dr. Gheorghe Iliadi, scientific consultant at the Economy, Finance and Statistics Institute.
The Award for Humanitarian Studies went to Dr. Gheorghe Costache of the Academy's History, State and Law Institute.
