Academician Vasile Anestiadi died

Academician Vasile Anestiadi died on November 13at the age of 86. A professor and doctor habilitate in medical sciences, he has served as the rector of the Chisinau State Institute of Medicine for 23 years. Prime Minister Iurie Leanc, alongside President Nicolae Timofti and Head of Parliament Igor Corman, signed an obituary, saying that Vasile Anestiadi dedicated his whole life to remarkable teaching and scientific work, contributing to the formation of about 20,000 doctors and pharmacists, IPN reports.

Vasile Anestiadi was a member of honor of a number of international scientific organizations and societies, being honored with the highest state award – the Order of the Republic – and other awards for his prodigious work.

The obituary says the death of Vasile Anestiadi represents a big loss as he was an extraordinary personality of the intellectual elite and a great patriot. The medical and scientific community lost a talented scientist, pedagogue and manager. The senior state officials sent their condolences to the grieving family of Vasile Anestiadi.
