Academia confirms participation in National Division

Academia Chisinau is the last team that confirmed its participation in the National Football Division. Owing to financial problems, the Chisinau team was close to withdrawing from the championship. Its place was to be taken by Saxan Ciadir-Lunga, a Division A club that possesses a National License, IPN reports.

The ‘students’ returned to training after the summer vacation on July 15. The team’s president Alexandru Cojuhari stated for www.moldfootball.com that in the 2013-2014 season the team will play only with footballers younger than 21. Academia will be trained by Valeriu Catana. In the previous season, the team ranked seventh in the upper echelon even if it included players from the national squad of Moldova.

The National Division starts on July 27-28 with the matches of the first stage: Rapid - FC Costuleni, Sheriff - Zimbru, Academia - Dinamo-Auto, Olimpia – Veris, Dacia – FC Tiraspol, Milsami – Speranta.

The Professional Football Committee of the Moldovan Football Federation worked out a new formula of the competition program in the National Division. Under it, the clubs that head the rankings will have direct encounters between them in the last stages of the competition.
