Parliament didn’t support the Lib-Dems’ proposal to abrogate the decision of December 22, 2017 by which MP Valeriu Ghiletski was named Deputy Speaker of the legislative body, IPN reports.
Presenting the initiative, chairman of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Tudor Deliu argued that the votes cast during the voting procedure were calculated incorrectly. The pictures taken in the sitting show that 34 MPs voted for Valeriu Ghiletski, but the Deputy Speaker is elected by a majority of votes.
For his part, Valeriu Ghiletski noticed only political undertones in the request made by his former Liberal-Democratic colleagues. He accused them of selectivity, asking them why they didn’t analyze all the votes cast in the current legislature. He noted that the invoked images cannot be considered legal evidence as there weren’t cameras fixed on each MP apart during the vote to catch the moment when the hand was raised.
When put to the vote, the Lib- Dems’ proposal was supported by 32 MPs only and could not be thus adopted.
