About half of persons infected with pandemic flu are from Chisinau
Most of the persons that caught pandemic influenza are from Chisinau. More than half of the infected students are from the capital city, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Though the pandemic flu situation in the country became stable last week, the acting head of the Health Division Luminita Suveica said the number of infected persons in Chisinau was by about 100 higher than a week before.
About 1,700 of the 2,400 infected persons are from Chisinau. 315 persons were hospitalized last week, by 38 patients fewer than a week earlier. The number of persons suffering from different acute viral infections rose to 5,500.
The pandemic influenza affected the education process. According to the head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Tatianei Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, 118 of the 227 infected students are from Chisinau. Nine of the 22 schools closed because of flu are situated in the municipality of Chisinau. There were closed tree kindergartens. The disease affected 86 kindergartens, 129 schools, 15 colleges and 14 universities.
According to municipal officials, the vaccination against pandemic flu that started last week goes slowly. There were used only 680 vaccines of the 50,000 allocated for Chisinau. Many people refuse to be vaccinated as they are afraid of side effects.
No vaccinated person developed complications. The vaccine is not available from drugstores. It is administered free of charge in medical institutions. The doctors urge the residents of Chisinau to protect themselves from infection by vaccination.
