Eighty-six trees were cut down and 254 trees were clipped in the capital city the last few days, with 27 trees being felled for sanitary purposes, Victoria Covali, director of the Green Areas Association, stated in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services, IPN reports.

The director noted that similar works will be performed this week at 23 addresses in the municipality of Chisinau. “We set the objective to remove all the trees that pose a threat to the population and to clean the trees in yards of preschool educational institutions by August 1,” said Victoria Covali.

Last week, works to clear places near water were executed on an area of 8.52 ha. There were cleaned 17 springs. Measures to fight pests and disease were taken in a number of districts of Chisinau, primarily downtown.

Also, measures to combat ambrosia were applied on an area of 0.59 ha. Similar works this week will be carried out on an area of 1 ha.
