About 8,000 road signs to be set up in 2010

The Ministry of Transport plans to fix approximately 8,000 traffic signs all over Moldova this year. About 18,000 signs are now missing in the country, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vasile Filip, deputy director of the Ministry's State Road Management Division, said about 40,000 road signs must exist in Moldova. He also said that the production and placement of the 8,000 signs will cost approximately 15 million lei and that most of the signs are absent from local roads. Since 2008, there have been made mainly orientation signs as there are not many such signs in the Moldovan villages. According to Vasile Filip, many traffic signs had been destroyed or stolen during the last 10-15 years, but there are no money to place new signs.
