Approximately 800 financing projects are in the Chisinau City Hall at present waiting to be examined. The secretary of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) Vladimir Sarban voiced hope that the CMC will elect the chairman of the council, the vice mayors and heads of the specialised commissions on August 2, and will return to the ordinary examination and approval of the draft decisions vital for the municipality next Thursday, on August 9. According to him, the division heads in the City Hall should first of all decide the financing priorities for modifying the local budget, of the 300 projects examined earlier by the relevant commissions of the CMC and of the 500 projects submitted to the new local administration. The list of priorities is to be presented to the secretariat of the CMC by August 1. Vladimir Sarban said there is a draft decision regarding the modification of the budget for this year, worked out under certain previous commitments of the local authorities. “If Dorin Chirtoaca is informed in detail about the most important problems that should be immediately addressed, he will modify the project on the adjustment of the existent budget,” the CMC secretary said. The Chisinau City Hall has over 150 mln debts to “Termocom” SA and risks being sued by the company. Also, according to the General Finance Division, the municipality has accounts payable accumulated for the reconstruction and extension of Pan Halippa Street – about 14.6 mln lei, for the renovation of the sculptural compound “Labour Glory” and of the civil cemetery “Eternity” – about 11.6 mln lei, for designing and building protection for the territory adjoining the Golbocica River – 5.7 mln lei, for designing and building the trolley line on Independentei Street in Botanica sector – 5.4 mln lei, for cleaning the districts of the municipality of Chisinau – 10.7 mln lei and for paving the sidewalks – 3.9 mln lei. The collections to the local budget in the first quarter of 2007 totalled 828 mln lei, or by 223 mln lei (21%) more than planned.
