About 7,000 budget-funded places available at universities this year

The universities this year provide 20,475 places, 6,755 of which are budget-funded. The candidates can submit the applications between July 16 and July 27. The additional contest for filling the unoccupied places will take place between August 7 and August 9, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Education, most of the budget-funded places are available for such general disciplines as Education Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, and Exact Sciences. More places were allocated for the master’s degree studies. Of the total of 9,218 places, 3,568 are budget-funded.

There were instituted seven new specialties: Management of Human Resources; Anti-Fire Services; Film and TV Production; History and Theory of the Plastic Arts; Dramaturgy and Playwriting; Artistic Management; and Law – Border Security.

This year, the candidates can apply to several specialties at one or several universities, but can be enrolled only at one specialty of one higher education institution. The intermediary results will be announced until July 31, while the final ones until August 16.

Since 2014, the budget-funded places, except those intended for orphans and invalids with the first and second disability degrees, have been put up for contest yearly, after the summer session.

A number of 34 universities, including 19 state institutions and 15 private ones, will admit students this year. To colleges, applications can be filed for 8,355 places between July 1 and July 31. The results will be announced by August 3. The vocational schools provide 12,035 places. The admission session there lasts from July 1 until August 10. The results will be made public by August 25.
