About 7 thousand persons left Moldova for good last year

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Informational Development, 6685 persons left Moldova last year to permanently settle in other countries. The number of Moldovan citizens who decided to move to USA was 612 persons. 253 persons moved to Germany, 201 – to Israel. In this way, the rate of those who left for the aforementioned three countries maintains at 90% of the total ex-USSR migrants. Among the CIS countries, the most active emigrational ties are maintained with Russia and Ukraine (2890 and 2350 emigrants). At the same time, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about 1608 persons born in Moldova have repatriated in 2006. The distribution of repatriates by nationality is the following: Moldovans – 53.4%, Russians – 17.8%, Ukrainians – 15.1%, other nationalities – 13.7%. The majority of repatriates came from Russia and Ukraine, 51.6% and 25.5% respectively. 1968 immigrants came to Moldova in 2006, of whom 605 persons obtained permanent residence, and 1363 persons – temporary residence. The rate of those who came to work in Moldova is 42.1%, to study – 22.6%, and for family integration purposes – 35.3%.
