About 6000 police officers will be deployed throughout the country to ensure public order and road safety during the celebration of the national holidays and the 5 day vacation for state employees, IPN reports.
The law bodies recommend the people who will attend the festivities in the center of Chisinau to refrain from driving their own cars and to opt for public transportation. Those who will drive a car nonetheless should respect the police indications, avoid the city center and park only in designated areas.
For safety reasons, access to the Grand National Assembly Square will be allowed only via 6 control points. The police will search people for forbidden objects and substances.
During the festivities in the city center, both private and public transportation will be redirected to other streets. Stefan cel Mare Avenue will be closed from 6 AM to 1 PM, the section between Sciusev – M. Viteazu and Ismail streets, and from 1 PM to 11.30 PM around the Grand National Assembly Square area. If needed, other streets will be closed as well.
Given that on Sunday, August 28, many villages and towns celebrate their patron saint’s day, the police will be on duty to protect public order and prevent any incident or crimes. Police officers on foot and mobile patrols will control and redirect the car traffic during the festivities so as to avoid traffic jams and ensure safety on the roads.
People are encouraged to call 902 in any risky situation.
