Approximately 60 new suspect cases of pandemic influenza were reported by the ambulance doctors in Chisinau yesterday. Eufalia Negreata, coordinating doctor of the Emergency Hospital, has told Info-Prim Neo that the ambulance service dealt with 98 cases of viral infections, including 46 suspect cases of pandemic flu. According to the Ministry of Health, 4,308 cases of acute vital infections, 2,320 confirmed cases of flu and 759 cases of acute pneumonia had been recorded in Moldova during the first days of the year. In the municipality of Chisinau, there were reported 1,058 cases of acute viral infections and 1,483 cases of pandemic flu. A number of 2,632 cases of A(H1N1) pandemic influenza had been confirmed in Moldova since May 25, 2009, when the pandemic flu epidemiological situation started to be monitored, until January 10, 2010. There were recorded 5,884 suspect cases. The disease caused the death of 35 persons. The National Scientific Practical Center of Preventive Medicine during the first ten days of the year had confirmed 44 cases of pandemic flu of the 167 suspect cases examined.
