The annual cleanup campaign General Spring Cleanup is in full swing. During a month since the launch, the sidewalks were cleared of antiskid materials and were partially washed, while the waste inside yards of apartment buildings was 40% gathered. A number of 579 trucks of waste were collected and taken away during March 1-28, IPN reports.
Contacted by IPN for details, the head of the Cleanup and Territorial Development Section of the Chisinau General Public Amenities Division Vasile Efros said that the public transport stations and the adjoining territory and also the waste collection platforms will be washed the coming month. The rest of the waste in yards is to be collected and transported away.
Such waste as glass, bottles and other packing collected separately is taken to the transfer station located on Uzinelor St and later to the waste dump in Țânțăreni. The construction and vegetal waste is taken to the storehouse situated on Calea Ieșilor St.
According to Vasile Efros, the cleanup works are carried out based on the contract signed by the General Public Amenities Division with municipal enterprises. The works inside yards are remunerated with the money paid by dwellers for cleanup.
Volunteers haven’t been yet engaged in the cleanup, but a series of events with the involvement of volunteers will be staged in April, such as the cleaning of the Byk River, particular wooded areas and yards of apartment buildings.
The General Spring Cleanup ends on April 30.
