About 5,000 nut, ash and black locust trees will be planted in various green zones of Chisinau on Saturday as part of a nationwide tree-planting campaign, the city's chief arborist Eliferie Haruta has told today's ordinary meeting of the City Hall, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said the event would also involve sanitation and beatification activities. The mayor urged the agencies, companies as well as nongovernmental organizations working in Chisinau to participate in the campaign. “The City Hall wishes to make citizens more responsible and develop civic spirit in the community. Only through common effort can we have a cleaner municipality, an European city”, stated the mayor. The municipal authorities are also soliciting the associations of homeowners and enterprises to tidy up their surroundings, promising to take care of the disposal of the rubbish.
